Jonathan Ochshorn teaches architecture at Cornell University, and has a nominal private architectural practice in Ithaca, NY, USA. He is also a founding member of the defunct rock group, Rollo, and continues to make music on his own. In his academic capacity, he writes about architecture, technology, and construction. ImpatientSearch.com is his website for calculators and architectural videos.
The name "impatientsearch" derives from "patient search," a quality that the architect Le Corbusier famously attributed to himself. John M. Jacobus, Jr. states in his review of Corbu's Creation is a Patient Search: "The Patient Search is something concealed below a tough outward surface, the fiber that sustains the 'life spent in fifty-two years of struggles, failures and bitter opposition.'" I had actually obtained the "www.PatientSearch.com" URL but foolishly gave it to my son, who let it expire. Shortly thereafter, it was gobbled up by some corporate entity and is still available for sale. I, however, decided to move on and created impatientSearch.com, which actually turns out to more accurately describe my own personality and predilections.
